From Creativity and Divine Surprise: Finding the place of your resurrection …
“Like prayer, the creative act draws us into the authentic life
that awaits us and into our fulfillment in God.
Creativity, an essential tool for shaping the soul,
provides a pathway to the fierce truth of our life.
Though typically associated only with artists and children,
creativity … is one strand of our divine DNA.
The other strand is love, which is enormously creative.
Woven together in a double helix, creativity and love …
carry us to union with the divine Creator,
the goal of the spiritual life.”
—Karla M. Kincannon
Creativity shows itself in many forms—from problem-solving and cooking to organizing, dance, lettering, and more. Whether or not you think you’re “creative,” consider exploring creativity as a spiritual practice. Might God be inviting you to experience God more deeply as you awaken to new ways of expressing yourself?
Journey through Karla’s book with others who want to explore creativity as a spiritual practice, desire an expanded sense of creativity in how they live their lives, and/or want to pursue a particular creative dream. Experience a community that will support you as you explore and grow.
Group members commit 1-2 hours/week to reading Karla’s reflections and stories and completing simple creative exercises (journaling, coloring, painting, photography, collage, etc.). Group sessions will begin with time to process our journeys, followed by time for creative play and sharing.
Participants in this community must have completed Contemplative Beginnings or The Intimacy Project (or its predecessor, the Spiritual Practices course). This 7-month group will be facilitated by Nita Landis and will meet on:
The group is limited to eight people and the cost to participate is $495, which includes a copy of Kincannon’s book and a light breakfast, snacks, and lunch on retreat days. A $50 non-refundable deposit is required at registration to reserve your space.

The Enneagram is a tool of self-discovery that charts the nine primary personality types and their connection with one another. During this one and a half-day course, you will discover your unique number and you will learn that the Enneagram is a process. While your number will remain fixed, there is a vast range of movement within each number as you progress from living on your edge to becoming more centered. Awareness of your number allows you to notice places where you are not living into who you are created to be. It also provides a path to accept parts of yourself that you may have struggled with in the past.
This retreat-style course will include a rhythm of teaching, self-reflection and group processing. Participation is limited to a maximum of eight (8) people. The course will meet on Friday evening from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tuition for this course is $150/person which includes a light breakfast and lunch on Saturday, and snacks. A $25 non-refundable deposit is requested at the time of registration to reserve your space.
