Saging Cohort April-November 2021

Saging is a cohort-based course focused on the Sacred Feminine. This course is for those who have an inner, vibrant spirituality but may find there are few places within the church that support this kind of growth.  Kavanna House will offer the Saging cohort in an ONLINE format, where participants meet for five (5) two-day retreats over a seven month period via Zoom. Each day is comprised of a repeated rhythm of brief presentations via Zoom, private reflection time (on your own, off Zoom) and a return to our Zoom call for group processing.

The cohort will meet via Zoom on the following dates from 9 am-5 pm:

• April 24-25, 2021
• June 12-13, 2021
• July 31-August 1, 2021
• September 11-12, 2021
• October 30-31, 2021

One day of each retreat will be a “Sophia” day - focused on exploring the wisdom aspect of God, image of God and the feminine traits of God.  The second day is called the “Thelma” day, which is focused on discovering our true, wild essence, coming into our own as a woman and coming to understand those places where the culture and the church have formed us in ways that are not congruent with who we truly are. 

The idea is not to change your mind on all you have come to know about God and yourself, but rather to offer you some broader possibilities to consider.  It will be a place to explore some of these ideas in safe community. 

 It can be an unsettling, frustrating, exhilarating and freeing journey…and it is definitely not for everyone.

There is limited space as we feel this work is best done in small groups so there is the opportunity to build intimate community. Because the cohort format requires a greater commitment of time and the subject matter may be new to some, an interview is required for all prospective participants. 

This cohort is open to a maximum of six people. Participant cost is $2,000 per person. This cost covers all materials, including those that will be shipped to participants prior to cohort retreat weekends. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration. The balance of the cost can be paid in installment payments.

Prepare for this ONLINE cohort by ...

• Choosing and preparing a space to spend the retreat weekends: Ideally it will be quiet and comfortable, with splashes of beauty and perhaps some chocolate or other special treats.
• Communicating with others in your household: Clearly and graciously, let other household members know what space you will be using during the retreat days. Explain how very grateful you will be to them for respecting your retreat time by not interrupting you!
• Gathering your materials: You will want your journal (or something to write on if you don't have a journal) and any documents sent to you prior to the retreat weekend.
• Preparing for our Zoom calls: Set up your laptop or tablet in a place where it can remain plugged in for the duration of the call so that you don't get disconnected due to a dead battery. Adjust your device so approximately one-third of your upper torso and your head show on the screen. When the camera is further away, it is difficult to see your facial expressions and when it is closer, it is challenging to see your body language. Choose a spot where light from a window or lamp shines on your face. Avoid having your device's camera pointed toward a strong source of light; your face will be darkened and others will have a harder time seeing you. If you have never been on a Zoom call before, please download the free necessary software at https://zoom.us/download sometime before retreat day.
